The media is in a major uproar over Trump calling for “a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on..” All the networks Constitutional scholars came out of the woodwork all claiming POTUS doesn’t have the power to ban or block people coming into the US. Well they are wrong!
First off Pres Carter banned Iranians from coming into the US during the hostage crisis:
“…Fourth, the Secretary of Treasury [State] and the Attorney General will invalidate all visas issued to Iranian citizens for future entry into the United States, effective today. We will not reissue visas, nor will we issue new visas, except for compelling and proven humanitarian reasons or where the national interest of our own country requires. This directive will be interpreted very strictly…”
Second there is that pesky US immigration code no one seems to want to read anymore. Under 8 US Code § 1182 – Inadmissible aliens
“…(f) Suspension of Entry or Imposition of Restrictions by President
Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate. Whenever the Attorney General finds that a commercial airline has failed to comply with regulations of the Attorney General relating to requirements of airlines for the detection of fraudulent documents used by passengers traveling to the United States (including the training of personnel in such detection), the Attorney General may suspend the entry of some or all aliens transported to the United States by such airline.”
So there you have it America and shame on each and everyone of you know-it-alls for not doing your homework before condemning Trump for calling to do what Carter did. We are at war with radical islam which has infiltrated every single “muslim” nation in which “refugees” and immigrants are doing everything they can to get into the US and Europe. The same muslims escaping their lands ISIS made very clear would use to infiltrate Europe and America. Trumps statement is not racist, but would it satisfy everyone if he just named every muslim nation instead? Will the media and Est GOP be happy if he says Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar etc? Ok he made a blanket statement that didn’t go over well we all know what he means and it really is no different from what Carter did just not as eloquent. Even if people want to stick with that US Code still stands giving POTUS the power to stop ANY CLASS of aliens, immigrants or nonimmigrants from entering the US, so the arguments against are out. While people want to argue over semantics our enemies are working hard on their next attack. Infiltrators aren’t caught up with word play and are probably laughing at us as they mix in with the refugees. We know at least one of the Paris attackers had in fact hidden themselves among refugees.
