He even indicated that President Obama \u00e2\u20ac\u0153supports\u00e2\u20ac\u009d this change.<\/p>\n But the White House pushed back the next day, telling Politico<\/em><\/a> through an unnamed \u00e2\u20ac\u0153official\u00e2\u20ac\u009d that \u00e2\u20ac\u0153[Sperling] was referring to our proposal in the Blueprint for an American Built to Last that removes tax incentives for companies that ship jobs overseas.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d The Politico article<\/a><\/em> was titled, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153No ‘global tax,’ W.H. says,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d though the article never actually quoted anyone\u00e2\u20ac\u201dnamed or unnamed\u00e2\u20ac\u201ddenying the substance of Sperling\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s proposal (or even that it would in effect be a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153global minimum tax\u00e2\u20ac\u009d).<\/p>\n Well today, in a speech the president is delivering in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Obama announced the thrust of what amounts to a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153global minimum tax\u00e2\u20ac\u009d\u00e2\u20ac\u201deven if he avoided using the controversial phrase.<\/p>\n \u00e2\u20ac\u0153[N]o American company should be able to avoid paying its fair share of taxes by moving jobs and profits overseas,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Obama said, according to his remarks as prepared for deliver. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153From now on, every multinational company should have to pay a basic minimum tax.
