Levin stated &#8220;&#8230;.tired of hate America first&#8221; &#8220;&#8230;.and hearing it from Ron Paul&#8221; among many things including pointing out Pauls weak foreign policy.<\/p>\n<p>Just LISTEN to it before you cast judgement.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/33439543?title=0&amp;byline=0&amp;portrait=0\" width=\"400\" height=\"265\" frameborder=\"0\" webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This is the Politico article that set Mark off<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/stories\/1211\/70156.html\">Ron Paul: &#8216;Glee&#8217; in administration after 9\/11<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"ron paul iowa\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/images.politico.com\/global\/news\/111208_paul_iowa_ap_328.jpg?resize=605%2C328\" alt=\"\" width=\"605\" height=\"328\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/>AMES, Iowa \u00e2\u20ac\u201d Ron Paul isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t backing down from his position that the U.S. has provoked terrorists through foreign military occupation and that officials tried to capitalize on Sept. 11 attacks.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Think of what happened after 9\/11, the minute before there was any assessment, there was glee in the administration because now we can invade Iraq, and so the war drums beat,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Paul said Thursday night before a packed room of more than 1,000 students and supporters. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153That\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s exactly what they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re doing now with Iran.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>Former Bush White House press secretary Ari Fleischer responded to the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153glee\u00e2\u20ac\u009d charge by tweeting, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The man is nuts.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>The remarks came as Paul ramped up his efforts in Iowa, where the caucuses are less than a month away. As the field has fluctuated, Paul has gained steam here, polling near the top of the pack.<\/p>\n<p>His libertarian ideals have struck a cord with many, but conservatives remain deeply wary of Paul\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s foreign policy positions, including his assertion that the U.S. provoked the Sept. 11 attacks by maintaining military bases in foreign countries. Paul\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s position as the lone dove in the GOP race has made him a foil for some of his hawkish Republican opponents.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Extremists have taken over, and they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re the ones who run the foreign policy and have convinced us to go along with all these wars,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Paul said Wednesday night.<\/p>\n<p>Paul said that claims Iran could be developing a nuclear weapon are just part of an effort to scare Americans into going to war again.<\/p>\n<p>Paul said of the possibility that Iran has a nuclear weapon is \u00e2\u20ac\u0153not true at all.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d \u00e2\u20ac\u0153It doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t mean they might not want a nuclear weapon.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>No other country, Paul said, is capable of attacking the United States.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153How many foreign countries can threaten us right now?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Paul asked sarcastically. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153How many are likely to invade us or drop a bomb on us? I can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t imagine.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>Paul railed on the PATRIOT Act, a pet issue that he frequently brings up on the trail.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153The PATRIOT Act was written many, many years before 9\/11,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Paul said. The attacks simply provided \u00e2\u20ac\u0153an opportunity for some people to do what they wanted to do,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Paul again called for an end to all sanctions currently imposed on Cuba, which he has said only make Cubans dislike Americans.<\/p>\n<p>Paul questioned the integrity of the American election process, evoking a line often used to describe a desire to promote democratic elections in the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153I wish we could guarantee a democratic and honest election in this country as well,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Paul said. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The democratic process in this country has a long way to go.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>Though he has repeatedly waved off the notion of waging a third-party bid, Paul blamed the two-party system for what he said were problems with the American electoral system.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153People are tired of it now, they don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t trust it and they know something is wrong,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Paul said.<\/p>\n<p>Paul has ramped up his tour of Iowa, trying to bolster his position in the polls that currently have him near the top of the pack. He also spoke to groups in Des Moines and Boone on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Also among the civil liberties issues Paul raised was the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153war on drugs,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d which he brought up at the student event but did not raise before the small town crowd in Boone.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153A lot more people died from the consequences of the war on drugs than the drugs themselves,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Paul said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Levin thunders away about Paul for 16 minutes after Pauls comment that &#8220;there was glee in the (Bush) administration because now we can invade Iraq&#8221;.
