3D Printable Gun Advocate Defense Distributed and DefCad Shutdown by DOJ

DOJ DEFCAD If you have been following the gun debate then you are also aware of Cody Wilson, the man behind Defense Distributed and DefCad sites, who wants to challenge the entire system by offering free plans for a printable 3D gun. Well the DOJ shut his sites down and it appears, from the message posted in place of his sites, they will be going after him with the full force of the law!

“Conspiracy to Violate Arms Export Control Act (22 U.S.C § 2778), Conspiracy to Violate Undetectable Firearms Act (18 U.S.C § 922(p)), Conspiracy to Commit Money Laundering (18 U.S.C § 1956(h)), and Criminal Copyright Infringement (18 U.S.C §§ 2, 2319; 17 U.S.C 506).”

DefCad.com and their blog are still up but the link to the open source file sharing “Mega Pack” will take you to a blank page with a broken image at the top of the page. So it appears this is not a hoax, as some are suggesting among the blogs and message boards. Oddly their Defense Distributed webstore is still up and running where one can purchase a printed high capacity magazine! Only time will tell if this is an April Fools joke but consider this, first report I found about it being down was 10:26pm March 31 via CalGuns!

Wilson considered one of the most dangerous men on earth (by whom officially I couldn’t say) appeared on the Glenn Beck Program a few months ago explaining his position…

Recently there was a short documentary done about Wilson and his project…

Aside from developing a printable AR-15 lower Wilson was also in the process of perfecting a printable high capacity magazine named the “Cuomo” after gun grabber NY Gov Andrew Cuomo.

4-2-13: The site is back up and there hasn’t been much chatter following it being inaccessible yesterday so it leaves one to believe it was a hoax. You might want to hop over and download some of the plans while you can, just in case…
