Bundy argues the land his cattle graze on is not federal land but Nevada state’s land after the territory was turned over by the federal govt when NV became a state in the 1860’s. He is raising the issue on state rights/ sovereignty in which the govt has no claim on state land, that people do not have contracts with the government so why should they be required to pay the federal govt for state use?
Again I ask, what is the point of state lines/ boundaries the necessity of governors & state legislators if the federal govt can come in do what they want, when they want and take what they want? The Constitution made the role of govt very clear to be limited in raising an army, coin money, regulate interstate commerce etc all spelled out in Article 1 Sec 8, but those running the govt have no regard for the law and those duties spelled out in the Constitution.
What is to stop the feds from seizing more land rich in natural resources if states rights & sovereignty are irrelevant? What is to stop them from seizing land just to charge fees all in the name of protecting an “endangered species”. We’ve heard of this kind of racket in the past by thugs who would charge protection fees who went to jail, but if you are the US govt well then it’s totally legal because they say so. The problem here is the federal govt doesn’t know its role. They think we are servants to them when it is really the other way around.
We have failed to make that “master and servant” role clear to them, so we pay the price with stories like Cliven’s! The people of America have ceded power to the elites who now abuse this power and use it against all Americans. This is why we will need more PEACEFUL but forceful standoffs like what we have seen over the last week in NV.
