This guy is full of crap in his explanation that increasing minimum wage won’t be a negative for companies. He cites Jaxson’s Ice Cream Parlour & Restaurant in So FL increasing minimum wage for 70+ employees and it didn’t affect them. I’m not buying it the math just doesn’t add up. Let’s just say for the heck of it the avg pay increase is $1.75 among 70+ employees:
$1.75/hr x 70 employees x 8hr shift x 1 day = $980 increase in payroll PER DAY!
$980 x 5 day work week = $4,900 per week increase in payroll
$4,900 x 4 weeks = $19,600 a month increase in payroll
$19,600 x 12= $235,200 increase in payroll per year…. that is a lot of additional ice cream this company has to sell… in a down economy!
The math does not add up that companies can afford a pay increase per hour anywhere from a few cents to possibly $3/hr per employee! This is basic math folks and we aren’t even factoring in the companies existing over-head just to keep the lights on let alone AFFORD obamacare!!!
Let’s get something else straight all the min wage jobs were NEVER meant for someone to raise a family of four on. They were intended for teens and those going to college to get extra spending money and experience or someone looking to supplement their income from a full-time job. Because the economy is completely in the dumps those who would normally have a higher paying job outside of the service industry are forced into low-level min wage job. This is why unemployment among teens, especially black teens, is at depression era level!! All the people who would normally have those factory and office jobs have been forced to go after the jobs teens and the less skilled would normally fill!
The emperor and his minions want you to believe the person running the register, flipping burgers, stocking shelves should be paid the same wage as one who does back office work in a doctors/ dentist office, a paralegal or some other low-level employee. What he and all the proponents of increasing minimum wages leaves out is something called skill level. You see one is paid based on their level of skill, the more skills you have the higher your wage is how it normally works. But in little Barry’s word everyone is equal and gets paid the same wages…that boys and girls is what we call socialism/ marxism/ communism!
I’m sorry it doesn’t work that way and this guy is full of lies that companies won’t lay staff off from this kind of pay increase. Look at the example above I’m using basic math to show how flawed this is. I’ve never heard of any ice cream company so wonderful and busy exploding out of So FL growing by leaps and bounds they can afford an extra $235,000 a year in payroll! I’ve lived in So FL visited countless times and I can tell you I never heard of the place! Maybe it’s true I dunno but most companies in the US cannot afford this kind of pay increase. Companies will either have to find more “fat” to cut in their overhead (odds are they have already done that) increase prices or cut employees hours if not cut staff it’s that cut and dry. Anyone running a business knows what I am saying here is solid and obama is lying through his teeth.
Just more propaganda using inflated “polls” with claims that a “clear majority of Americans support raising minimum wage”. We heard this propaganda before over gun control where he and all the gun grabbers claimed over and over again that “90% of the American people” backed gun control. It turned out the “90%” claims were based on a MSNBC poll of approx 1200+ people! He is doing it again where it will cost more jobs!
