Sen. Ron Johnson: Our ISIS Strategy Is Basically Like Poking a Hornet’s Nest With a Stick

Johnson is right about poking a hornets nest but he is quite wrong that this mess isn’t obama fault. The regime knew about ISIS when it was in its infancy and didnt take any intel on them seriously. They sat back and watched this small terror group grow not hitting them when they had th opportunity. IS went from the remnants of al Qaeda Iraq to the beast it is today having well over 50,000 fighters, billions in the bank and plenty of weapons. An air campaign will be successful only if you have someone on the ground telling the bombers where to hit! This is the problem since NO ONE wants US boots on the ground.

The Iraqi army has proven we can’t trust them after so many cut and ran. The FSA is just a bunch of militia they are not a formal army and even if they were armed they do not have the numbers to fight. Aside from the amount of time it would take to train them we have no idea how many within their ranks are/have terror ties. The Kurds have the heart to fight but does anyone really see them going on the offensive chasing IS around Iraq and into Syria? So what do we do? Other nations with armies in the region who are at risk of falling to IS have to step up and fight this battle. The US will own the sky but Arab nations must fight the ground war and last time I checked no one is stepping up to the plate!
