Comprehension of what is said or written has quickly become a lost “art”/ skill in American politics and news. Everyone ought to go listen to the speech Al Franken gave today from the Senate floor. He issued a non-apology apology followed up with an announcement he will be resigning “in the coming weeks”. Either you’re sorry or you’re not and out or not. But when it comes to democrats/ progressives everything is calculated, it’s always someone elses fault, actions or words taken out of context etc. Listen to it again, he’s not sorry and has only committed to resigning in the future, Franken DID NOT resign today. If he actually resigned he would be packing up his office right now and be on his way back to Minnesota!
Franken said the women who made accusations against him should be heard, but many claims are not true or didn’t happen as he recalls. “All women deserve to be heard and their experiences taken seriously. I think that was the right thing to do, I also think it gave some people the false impression that I was admitting to doing things that in fact I haven’t done. Some of the allegations against me are simply not true, others I remember very differently.” This is not an apology America.
He said “in the coming weeks I will be resigning as a member of the United States Senate”. That means it’s business as usual until when exactly? When will he actually exit? Or, will something come up, oh I dunno maybe after the Dec 12th that causes him to stay?! But then there is the possibility of voting on National Reciprocity, final tax bill or something else coming up he will just have to hang around for. And let’s not forget the swipe he took at Pres Trump, who is the real target of Franken and Conyers’ resignation.
The dems are using their resignation as a way to go after Roy Moore should he win Dec 12th. He wins they will act to see him removed from the Senate. They get his scalp, naturally they will go after Trump because watch and see, the sexual accusations will be brought front and center when 2018 rolls around!
Franken knows all of this, the dems coming out against him yesterday was coordinated with this speech, I have no doubt leaders played a role in.
Politically, 2018, a midterm election year, being a roller coaster ride will be an understatement.
