Dan Rather has no credibility after the fake news he created against Pres GW Bush in 2004 that cost him his job at CBS. Who is this liar to criticize Pres Trump about being truthful, going so far as to suggest Trump is deceptive at a Orwellian level? Trump is not doing anything wrong because Ted Cruz supporters who now back POTUS would be the first ones to call him out. Frankly, any true conservative will call him out when he is wrong on an issue or not being honest.
To suggest Trump is like Big Brother from 1984 authoritarian in nature by not being truthful and manipulative of the facts is the kinds of fake news that got this washed up hack out of the business.
